The Recovery Equipment on our Land Rovers
	Land Rover "Alaska" Specifications: Reasons: 6000-lb. winch: Can recover a stuck or disabled vehicle (up to 4080 kg)   Tow bar: Can pull a disabled vehicle to safety or service.   ARB locking rear differential: Assists 4-wheel drive in extremely poor terrain. Some say a diff-lock is more useful than a winch and I agree. ARB is a sponsor of our AroundTheWorld1999 Expedition.   D Rings: To recover a stuck vehicle you need a strong anchor point to pull from. We installed D-rings and tow hooks for this purpose.   Hi-Lift Jack Sockets: The rear cross member (bumper) of a Land Rover doesn't lend itself well as a jack up point so we had some Hi-Lift jack sockets welded to the corners. This effectively squares off the rear cross member and resembles that of a military Land Rover.         Land Rover "Hercules"   Specifications: Reasons: 48" Hi-Lift jack: Easy to use - and fast to operate. This jack is useful for more than just changing a flat. It can actually be used to lever a stuck vehicle over an obstacle or turn the Rover around (little by little).   Tow Hooks: To recover a stuck vehicle you need a strong anchor point to pull from. Simply fold it in half to double the pulling power. Snatch blocks and rigging tackle aid vehicle recovery as well.   Jumper Cables: Our dual battery setup hasn't undergone much testing so we're including a set of jumper cables just in case.
